Inspired by late 19th and early 20th century workwear, this collection examines and explores various western workers’ uniforms including but not limited to newsboys, butchers, cooks, construction workers, painters, and railroad workers.
Attracted to not just their utilitarian clothing, 01 woomin’s ss21 collection were enamored by how the clothes interact with the wearer as they work and as time goes by.
The clothes change, following the rhythm of a worker’s labor forming tears, cuts, and stains. Details such as a chef with a knife inserted into a napkin tied around his waist, or an artist with a tie tucked beneath the third button of his shirt and a wipe cloth tucked into his trousers’ waist, or a painter in a ragged paint-stained overall became the center of the collection.
